The medical field tends to rely heavily on sealed lead-acid batteries. While they are fairly large and can be bulky in size, they work well in machinery that is left for emergency use only. When a patient's condition worsens to the point that emergency care needs to be administered, the medical staff depends on the equipment to have a full charge on the battery. These batteries are designed to produce irregular spurts of high current energy. This would not be the right choice if the need was for a steady flow of high energy.
