How do I look after my battery?
Standard flooded lead acid batteries need to be checked regularly and topped up with distilled water as required. NEVER top a battery with acid. Always make sure that the battery is not discharged pasted the 80% mark and then the battery is charged fully.

What is in a battery and how does it work?
A battery has a number of lead plates suspended in a diluted sulphuric acid. About half of the plates are negative and the other positive. The negative and the positive are slightly dissimilar lead content. When you use the battery the acid is absorbed by the plates making them similar (flat battery) and when you charge the acid is pushed out (charged battery)

How long can I leave my battery without using it?
A battery should never be left in a discharged state. If you have to leave a battery for a period it should always be in a fully charged a correctly topped state. It is not ideal to leave battery standing, however a period of up to one month should not be too detrimental.

Can you install the battery / batteries for me?
Powercell have a fully trained mobile service force that can come to you and repair or replace you equipment.

Why do batteries fail prematurely?
Mainly due to the lack of preventative maintenance, correctly topping, correctly charging the battery and making sure the battery is not over discharged pasted 80 %. If you do not use the battery the battery plates sulphate and decrease the capacity of the battery reducing the work it can carry out.

My battery has not been used for some time and has low capacity due to sulphation, how do I rectify this?
Powercell REGENERATION is the ideal solution for sulphated batteries, Click on the link for more information on Battery REGENERATION.

Do you supply starter batteries for my car?
No, we only supply deep cycle batteries.

What information do you need to identify my battery?
If there is a battery label or plate this should give you the battery type, voltage and amp hour (Ah). If this is not available, the battery dimensions, number of batteries, what the equipment they are powering, the charger details and your application. Failing this, we can arrange to send one of our engineers.

What is Service?
‘Service’ what does it mean, and when we look for it, what are our expectations? Do we expect less, so we are not disappointed, when surely we should be expecting more, and as customers setting the standards high, or how can we expect our service suppliers to deliver above our expectations?
Of course not every service supplier delivers poor quality service, but the good ones are reducing as the need for profit gets more demanding. Our Industry has been under tremendous pressure over the last 18 months to maintain an acceptable return on its investment in people and hardware.
So come on, be demanding, request the best, not just the best of a bad bunch.

  • Forget fancy unrealistic response times; look for quality in the people, systems and current achievements. Ask to talk to existing customers, find out what they can really achieve.
  • Look for close personal service of your needs, do you know who to contact when thing do go wrong, or you have any queries.
  • Can they set up a tailored package that meets your needs, and will they work with your team to make sure issues are dealt with quickly and effectively.
  • What market image do they have, and do you want their engineers visiting your customers!
  • No one is perfect in every way, but use your instincts, do they deserve respect, do you feel they are honest, and have they indeed been honest about their coverage, and does it meet your needs.

So expect the best, ask the right questions and look for that little something extra, in your personal service and the attention to detail, where they are genuinely interested in your business and take the time to understand your needs, now and for the future.

If you would like to discuss your expectations, give Powercell a call and demand the best. We can and do deliver expectations.
